Tips for clean detection: solid contrasting background (dark mat for white-border cards), a small margin of background visible around all four edges, even light, camera square-on (90°), no sleeve or toploader. How to read it: the numbers are border-width shares — 60/40 means one border takes 60% of that axis's total border (1.5× wider than the other). 50/50 is perfect; ≤55/45 keeps a PSA 10 alive; ≤60/40 caps you at PSA 9. Graders judge your worst axis.

How card centering is measured
Centering compares the widths of a card's borders. If the left border is 6mm and the right is 4mm, the card is 60/40 left-to-right. Graders measure both axes and use the worse side against their standard. It's the only grading factor that is pure geometry — which means a photo and this tool measure it as accurately as a grader's loupe.
Centering requirements by grade
- PSA 10: ~55/45 or better front, 75/25 back
- PSA 9: ~60/40 front, 90/10 back
- PSA 8: ~65/35 front
- BGS 9.5: ~55/45 · BGS 10 Pristine: ~50/50
